Missionary apartment

This was the apartment we had in Porvoo in late 1989 and early 1990. It was a converted garage with one main room and a room for the toilet. The booth in the corner is our shower. Note the three lines hanging from the ceiling. Since we didn't have a washing machine, we used the bucket shown at my feet, and hung the clothes to drip all night. The high humidity inside and the cold outside would often freeze the door shut, so we'd have to pour boiling water on the threshold to unstick it.

Just a slice of missionary life from Lee Choquette.
