In Memoriam Returned Missionaries of the Finnish
Mission who have passed on Nelson, Joyce Nielsen, Carl Ray After being married in the Salt Lake Temple, Carl went on to a very successful career as a computer systems analysist. He worked in 2 labs and composed some very interesting programs for SMA-type blood chemistry machines. Later he worked at EDS, and one month out of 5,000 employees was chosen by Ross Perot as employee of the month. He was a democratic district precinct chariman and ran elections for awhile in his precinct. In the church he held positions of gospel doctrine teacher, seminary teacher, elders quorum president, ward weekly program editor, primary pianist, and home teacher. However, on August 18, 1982 he experienced a near fatal accident while enroute to his home in Dallas after work. This left him with a severe brain injury, and disabled for the rest of his life. Many personality changes were experienced along with a whole host of medical problems. He stayed at home most of the time between hospital stays. He never forgot his mission or the joy of the companionships that he shared. He was always grateful for the lessons he learned on his mission and from all his companions, and other leaders that gave him the strength to be released from this life into a better circumstance. He passed away as a Seventy and is still on a mission. I know he will look forward to the day when he will renew old friendships. Wade, Robert
